Leading Birmingham based marketing and events agency, Big Cat Group, are this month celebrating after picking up two national awards for their work on Jamaica Live, a community event at the heart of Birmingham City Centre.

Big Cat picked up the Community Engagement PR Campaign of the Year award at the Midlands, Wales and South Golden Hedgehog Awards ceremony, beating off competition from a number of top national agencies. Big Cat also triumphed at the NOEA Awards, collecting the Community Event of the Year award.

Both awards were won for Big Cat’s work on Jamaica Live, a 1-day Caribbean festival created on behalf of Punch Records which took place in Birmingham. The event saw Big Cat transform Victoria Square in Birmingham into a Caribbean oasis featuring real Jamaican food, arts and crafts, storytelling, spoken word poetry and face painting and witnessed over 30,000 people enjoying the tropical climates of Birmingham whilst soaking up the authentic Caribbean atmosphere. Big Cat also supported the campaign with an extensive PR campaign which saw both national and regional coverage in print, broadcast and online media.

Nick Morgan, CEO of Big Cat Group, said “We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring home these two awards, which reflect the hard work and dedication that made Jamaica Live a success. Our Events and PR teams worked closely with the various stakeholders and organisers for a number of months, ensuring all opportunities were maximised and that exposure reached as far as possible.

“We pride ourselves on delivering the best creative solutions for our clients and these awards prove that we are on the right track. Long may this success continue for Big Cat.”

Ammo Talwar MBE, Director of Punch Records said: “Having worked with Big Cat on a number of occasions before, we felt that they would be the perfect agency to provide both event and PR support on Jamaica Live. The events team ensured that all partners involved in the project were looked after, which was no small task.

“They planned and managed the build of the entire festival, ensuring that the Jamaican themeing remained strong throughout. Talent management was a key aspect of the day’s activity, with all stars feeling incredibly happy at the end of the day.

“The PR team developed a strong strategy which targeted regional, national and trade titles. They again ensured that all partner needs were met and achieved a substantial amount of coverage across print, online and broadcast mediums”.
