Get to know a Big Cat: Oliver

Friday 2nd May, 2014

This month we’re getting to know our newest addition to the Big Cat team, Oliver Richards. We’re ecstatic to have Oliver join our lively team as an Account Manager. He brings to us over three years of integrated agency experience, having worked on a vast array of exciting projects for notable brands such as Carling, Coors Light and Hammonds Furniture to name a few.

So let’s get to know a little bit more about Big Cat’s newest addition, take it away Oliver!

Tell us about an exciting piece of work you’ve been working on…

I’m currently working on the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Youth Academy branding. They’re a totally different client compared to my previous experience. It’s great to work on a brand that’s doing such beneficial work with young people and those in need of care. Plus our design team have done a cracking job on the creative!

What music have you been listening to recently?

My housemate introduced me to a three-piece rock band called Fuzz last week and all their songs are fast becoming the most played on my iTunes! It’s just three guys playing some heavy tunes with big dirty guitar riffs.

If you’re into low-end, grungy, heavy rock then check out a Brum band called God Damn as well, they’re the best band I’ve heard in years. No exaggeration.

Share something inspiring with us…

George Louis is one of my industry icons, the guy was pivotal in the 60’s advertising creative revolution and is still a real inspiration to listen to. One of my favourite quotes from him is, “Creativity can solve almost any problem. The creative act, the defeat of habit by originality, overcomes everything.”

What are your interests outside of work?

Apart from my keen interest in music, I play guitar myself, I enjoy a good political debate, have an ever-mounting film collection (anything and everything but I’m a big fan of the classics), I appreciate good clobber and can often be found with my nose in a Batman graphic novel (he is the best superhero and I’m up for debating this at length any time!).

Sport-wise, my favourite to watch is Rugby (Moseley Rugby Club is just round the corner from me) and I’m all about getting involved in Muay Thai Boxing, Swimming and Skiing.

If you would like to find out more about what services we provide here at Big Cat get in touch, and continue to watch this space to find out more about our talented brood.
