This week, meet our Communications Director, Christie Buet
I love working in a creative agency because… Of the people you meet. I work in an environment where there is no such thing as a ridiculous idea. Everyone’s individuality, personality and ideas are embraced. These people are also passionate about succeeding and there is nothing more inspiring than that.
I find most of my inspiration from… Instagram. I follow lots of brands, influencers and photographers who inspire me. Quite often when I take a look through my insta feed on my commute it gives me heaps of new ideas either in my personal life or for something I’m working on professionally too.
My most memorable work moment has to be… There’s two – launching Grand Central was an extremely proud moment. To be heavily involved in something so iconic to our city will stay in my memory forever. My second will seem small to most but it is the first time I secured a major piece of coverage. It was an 8 page article in a national magazine. It felt incredible. As a PR geek, it really did feel like quite the accomplishment to garner such an in-depth article for my client. I still have the magazine at home now!
The biggest thing I’ve learnt so far is… An old boss of mine used to say; ‘it’s PR not ER’. We’ve all had those moments when your palms are sweaty, your heart is pulsing, you aren’t sleeping and there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. But sometimes you just need to take a step back from the situation and reassess everything to find a solution, and then you find the best work happens.
The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is… Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Independence is seen as a sign of success but no one ever got to the top without the support and help of others.
If I wasn’t a Big Cat I’d be… Andy Peters presenting on GMB. He’s in Dubai one day, Thailand the next, he seriously has the best job!!
After work you’ll find me… Either cooking or dining somewhere new with my husband! I love food, so if we’re not at home cooking, we’re definitely out eating, especially given all the new choices were inundated with in Birmingham now.
