Tapas Revolution approached Big Cat to secure as much noise as possible about the new opening to help the brand stand out from all the other restaurants in Grand Central.

Client

Tapas Revolution opened its fourth café bar and restaurant in Grand Central, Birmingham in late September 2015 – the first time the concept has launched outside of London. Headed up by founder and celebrity chef Omar Allibhoy, it offers authentic Spanish tapas, breakfast, brunch and lunch, all freshly made on site, and inspired by the cuisine of Omar’s hometown of Madrid.

Objective

To announce that ‘the revolution had arrived’ in Birmingham and to build awareness around the Tapas Revolution brand, in the weeks leading up to launch.

Delivery

Big Cat delivered the following:

  • Whole span of Birmingham publications approached to secure editorial features on and offline announcing the imminent opening
  • Photos of Omar Allibhoy shot around Birmingham to place him in context of new city – and these used in press and in the countdown to opening on social media platforms
  • Exclusive tasting for the Birmingham Mail and interview with Omar to secure a picture story online immediately prior to opening
  • Worked with the Grand Central team before launch and on the opening day to secure Omar interviews on ITV Central News, BBC Radio WM and Global Radio and photos on Birmingham Mail website
  • Managed a blogger event and subsequent competitions
  • Post-launch, secured reviews in online titles and print magazines
  • Recruited brand ambassadors to spread the word
  • Sent a series of edms to our comprehensive database
  • Created and managed Birmingham specific social media pages to post engaging content, built customer relations, created an identity for Tapas Revolution in Birmingham
